MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace says the political fallout from Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan is finally catching up with him — and that even some of his most loyal MAGA supporters are beginning to push back.
MAGA Voices Break Ranks Over Trump’s Immigration Crackdown
On Monday’s episode of Deadline: White House, Wallace pointed to recent criticism from two prominent figures — podcaster Joe Rogan and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — as evidence that the president’s base is beginning to fracture over his harsh immigration policies.
“If Donald Trump’s political power lies in convincing his supporters of anything and everything,” Wallace said, “then public dissent from MAGA influencers might be the thing that melts his carefully crafted alternative reality faster than the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz.”
Graphic Scenes Fuel Growing Disapproval
In recent weeks, social media has been flooded with disturbing footage of armed federal agents rounding up undocumented immigrants in Trump’s “mass deportation operation.” Wallace described the campaign as “brutal, ugly, clunky, and wildly unpopular,” citing images of arrests outside schools, bakeries, and even a Marine base.
“The sights and sounds are proving to be too much for even the most influential MAGA-adjacent voices,” she added.
Joe Rogan Calls Deportations “Horrific”
Wallace aired a clip from The Joe Rogan Experience, where Rogan condemned the raids as “horrific.”
“When you’re arresting people in front of their kids — normal, hardworking people who’ve lived here for 20 years — anybody with a heart can’t get along with that,” Rogan said.
Although Rogan has criticized Trump’s immigration stances before, Wallace noted that his latest remarks carry more weight given the growing unease within Trump’s own sphere.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: “We Need a Smarter Plan”
Even Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Trump’s most outspoken defenders, voiced concerns during an appearance on The Tim Dillon Show.
“We have a labor force in America that’s been built on illegal labor,” Greene said. “That’s a fact. And as a conservative and a business owner, I can say we need a smarter plan than just rounding up and deporting everyone overnight.”
Greene acknowledged she expected backlash from Trump supporters but said she’s “living in reality from here on out.”
Wallace: The Reality Is “Sinking In”
Wallace concluded that while Rogan and Greene aren’t traditional allies for Trump critics, their dissent could mark a turning point in public perception.
“The reality of Trump’s mass deportation campaign — and how it’s impacting all of us — is finally starting to sink in,” she said. “Everyone is being touched by it, no matter who you voted for.”
